UC Santa Cruz · Spring 2019
The Trajectory of Justice in America
Danny Sheehan’s spring 2019 UC Santa Cruz course on climate change, the Indigenous uprising at Standing Rock and the debate over impeachment, set in a long historical perspective.
The course opens with climate science, including two guest lectures by Dr. Jon Conway, then follows the politics of oil from the robber barons to today. Its middle weeks examine the Mueller report and historical precedents for impeachment, and it closes with Standing Rock as a microcosm of the climate fight and strategies of resistance.
Danny represented Standing Rock water protector Chase Iron Eyes. See Standing Rock and the Lakota People’s Law Project.
