UC Santa Cruz · Fall 2013
The JFK assassination
Danny Sheehan’s fall 2013 course at UC Santa Cruz, one of the first university courses of its kind, examined the official account of President Kennedy’s assassination and nine alternative theories, ending days after the 50th anniversary.
The course starts from the Warren Commission and the lone-gunman account, then works through the later findings of the House Select Committee on Assassinations, Jim Garrison’s investigation, and theories involving organized crime, Cuban exiles, the FBI, the CIA and the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Danny’s syllabi, cast of characters and chronologies are below.
His later course, The Rulers of the Realm, places the assassination in a longer history of American covert power.
